Nihal Kothari is a technology and corporate lawyer and a Partner at LegaLogic Consulting, bringing over 20 years of substantial experience advising businesses on privacy, technology, and international commercial law across both in-house and private practice roles. At LegaLogic, he leads the firm’s Data Privacy & Protection Practice, Disruptive Technologies, and FinTech & TMT Practice, and heads its Global Commercial Contracts function. He works closely with multinational corporations, technology companies, growth-stage enterprises, and domestic businesses to structure, negotiate, and manage critical commercial relationships.
Nihal specializes in general corporate commercial advisory, drafting and negotiating a wide range of domestic and cross-border commercial agreements, technology contracts, intellectual property licensing arrangements, and business collaboration frameworks. His practice focuses on helping organizations mitigate legal risks while enabling commercial growth and operational efficiency.
Over the course of his career spanning nearly two decades, Nihal has advised clients on technology transactions, intellectual property rights, data privacy considerations, human resources-related legal matters, and real estate transactions. He currently leads LegaLogic's Global Commercial Contracts Practice, supporting clients across diverse industries with contract lifecycle management, strategic negotiations, and legal advisory services.
He leads a 30+ member team of lawyers providing day-to-day legal support to multiple clients, including contract review, negotiations, compliance advisory, and operational legal management.
Prior to joining LegaLogic, Nihal served as in-house Corporate Counsel with leading listed companies, including Persistent Systems Limited and Geometric Limited (now HCL), where he gained extensive experience in handling complex commercial contracting and corporate legal matters. He has also worked with a leading solicitors’ firm, providing him with a balanced perspective on both in-house and external legal advisory functions.
Beyond his professional practice, Nihal actively contributes to legal education and thought leadership initiatives. He has served as a judge at various law schools and academic competitions and is a regular speaker on international privacy laws, and varied legal topics at national-level forums and industry bodies.
